Cititour Review:

Two life-sized statues of knights in shining armor guard the doors, greeting patrons of the Polish eatery Krolewskie Jadlo, or in English, ‘King’s Feast.’  I couldn’t think of a better name if I tried!

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the decorations will truly take you back in time to the age of castles and kings.  The restaurant occupies one small room, which adds to the charm of the place.  Located centrally in Greenpoint (Manhattan Avenue and Norman Avenue), it is a popular venue for Polish families to enjoy a meal, especially around the holidays.  The lighting consists of dim overhead lights and flickering candelabras, which illuminate each table’s portrait of a king.  While the menu is both in English and Polish, the servers are extremely helpful and accommodating to non-natives.

Entrées run between $7-$9, but the low price doesn’t diminish the taste or the portion—you will leave satisfied!  This food is the real deal if you are looking for a hearty, ‘meat and potatoes’ style meal.  There are eight kinds of soup, well worth exploring for starters, as are the ‘przystawki,’ or appetizers.  I would highly recommend the cheese and potato pierogis, the cheese blintzes, and the potato pancakes.  If you are a vegetarian, these entrees will fill you up for just $5.50-$6 each.  The Polish plate is a good option for meat eaters to share.  It contains all the best traditional goodies—pierogis, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and potato pancakes, all for just $9.75.  Or, cut straight to the chase and enjoy a Polish sausage for just $6 with a ‘Zywiec’ Polish beer.  Be sure to save room for a blueberry, cherry or strawberry blintz for dessert.
