Cititour Review:

The first thing you notice when you get to P.J. Clarke's On The Hudson is the crowd. Open just six weeks and the place is already buzzing. In fact, it looks and feels like it's been there forever with its long wooden bar, red checkered tablecloths and old fashioned lamps. The decibal level can get pretty high at bar, which draws a spirited crowd in their late 20s to early 30s, and some in their 40s like moi. I also noticed a little bit of flirting going on. Hint to single Wall Street types - This is the place! I was also impressed with the quality of the staff. My waitress, Beth, who knows her trade well, made me feel right at home at the bar and by the end of my meal I felt like we were best buds. My meal consisted of a perfectly prepared burger with melted cheddar and fried onions. It was a little hard to maneuver, but as Beth put it, "In a place like this, if it's not sloppy, it ain't good." Believe me it was good and not too hard on the wallet at under $9. I also ordered a side of "Bubble and Squeak." It's sort of like a potato pancake with the consistency of hash browns that's mixed with cabbage and bacon. I'm told it got its name because when you cook it, well, it bubbles and squeaks. And while it may sound greasy, surprisingly it is not. The new P-J's is larger than the original, so while you'll be met with a large crowd, chances are you'll find a table. The added bonus, is it's right on the waterfront, making for great views when Spring and Summer arrives. As I was leaving, Beth said, "Don't be a stranger!" I won't and neither should you!
