One of the fab new restaurants at The Tin Building by Jean-Georges is T. Brasserie. It’s French food elevated enough to feel upscale, while at the same time welcoming to the masses who might not be dressed to the dressed to the Ts for a trip to the market. The emphasis is also on quality service.
The Tin Building, Interior You can opt for a seat at the bar or one of two dining rooms that open onto the ground floor market. Outdoor seating is also available when the weather permits. Dark green banquettes surround part of the space with café style seating, linen napkins and a wildflower sprig on each table.
The menu is classic French. Start with oysters mignonette, steak tartare with grilled baguette, onion soup with lots of cheesy goodness, and escargot smothered in herb-garlic butter. Entrées bring dishes like steamed salmon with market squash and hollandaise dill; rotisserie chicken with farm fresh beans; seared monkfish with slow-roasted tomato; and moules frites with mussels prepared in a white wine butter sauce perfect for slurping from the shell (just don’t do it too loudly) while enjoying a side of crispy hand-cut frites.
