Cititour Review:

Teddy’s is a classic combination of sports bar and music venue that serves up a great meal while you watch the big game, displayed on two big screens, or the live music.  They do a great job of bringing a variety of local talent to their raised stage, which is situated in the middle of the main dining room for all to enjoy.

The atmosphere is cozy yet clean with flickering strings of fancy lights illuminating the walls and reflecting off the stained glass windows.  Mellow and classy would be good words to describe the service, as well as the setting.  There is a newly added back room with a real wood-burning fireplace giving off the woodsy smell and ambiance of a faraway lodge.  The servers are very attentive, prompt and friendly, which makes it an easy spot to become a regular.

A good way to start your meal, or enjoy by itself, is the Moroccan salad ($8.95) which contains a hearty lemon-cardamom dressing, pistachio nuts, Moroccan olives, radishes, lentils and feta cheese served with warm flat bread.  The portion isn’t huge, but it leaves you full and with a healthy-feeling, as do most of the dishes on this Americana-style menu.

At $10, the crab cake sandwich is hard to beat with remoulade and a zesty Jamaican slaw.  Actually, all of the sandwiches are worth a try.  You can head for the South by tasting the blackened catfish sandwich with creamy garlic mayo, coleslaw and an amazingly sweet mango salsa ($10.95) or head even further south by tasting the Portobello Cubano ($10.95).  It comes with an amazing pepper-garlic-almond pesto and served on Cuban bread that is pressed to the point of crunchy, gooey perfection.  Teddy's also has every kind of potato you could imagine, from mashed sweet potatoes and baked potatoes to sweet potato fries, spiral-cut fries and golden steak fries—all of them served in generous proportions.

The “build-your-own” omelets, only served on Saturday and Sunday brunch, are also a fun way to start the weekend.  Located on the corner of N. 8th and Berry, this Williamsburg grill is a solid staple in the neighborhood.
